Reveal | Day 36- April 4 | Psalm 29
Matt and Madi Hayes
God can and God will.
Many times in our lives, we come to a place where we find ourselves desperately in need of guidance. We find ourselves pleading with God and anxiously awaiting his powerful and majestic voice as described in this passage.
Can you relate?
Not only does this passage provoke awe-inspiring thoughts of God and who He is, but when you read between the lines, you understand better who you are in God‘s eyes and how He delights in every little detail of your life. The Lord is powerful enough to twist mighty oaks and strip forests bare. He is also personable enough to see you right where you’re at. Whatever circumstance you’re in, he will provide guidance and lead you down the best pathway for your life.
I remember a time when I was earnestly seeking the Lord about the next steps in my life. One nigh,t while praying, deep within my heart sprang a prayer: “God, I’m so thirsty; I’m so thirsty for You.” Immediately, God whispered back, “Isaiah 55” in my heart. I wasn’t familiar with what the passage was about, but when I looked it up. The title read, “Invitation to the Thirsty.” Within Isaiah 55, there is emphasis on how the Lord’s thoughts are not our thoughts and his ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). The Lord spoke right into the depths of my heart, inviting me into further communion with Him. At that moment, I wanted an answer of what to do and where to go, and yet, the Lord’s invitation to draw closer to him and simply trust him was far better.
In reflecting on a circumstance or situation in your life today, do you hear God’s powerful voice? Are you authentically seeking to know him more? If his voice is heard in creation like Psalm 29, think about how he can and will speak to his most prized creation–you. He is calling to your heart right this moment. Psalm 29 ends with this hope as we hear his voice, “The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.”
