Day 25 | March 30
Day 25 | March 30 | Mark 10:32-45
By: Ron Wilson
Our Scripture today opens with Jesus teaching his disciples what awaited him as they made their way to Jerusalem.
He wanted them to grasp the truth that he had come to fulfill his mission to be the “Lamb of God” who would “take away the sin of the world.” His life was fully committed to do the will of the Father.
Somehow the disciples were not ready to receive this hard truth. James and John, the “sons of thunder” took a moment to address the idea of power and position in the structure of the Kingdom. They still thought it would resemble an earthly kingdom. They wanted to claim the “right hand” and the “left hand” in the organization.
Jesus took their question as an opportunity to reinforce his teaching. It was important that they understand the cost of discipleship. They needed to know that they would be subject to persecution. Their lives would have to be fully committed to the will of God. Jesus was teaching them that they would have to live a “yielded life.” A life of service rather than power or position.
The master wanted all of the disciples to understand the call to servanthood. His kingdom would be unlike that of the world. Anyone who would be a leader must be a servant!
The disciples would soon see Christ suffer and die on the cross. They would be amazed as he rose from the dead on that Resurrection day. They would rejoice as he appeared to them, alive, and then ascend back to his Father in heaven. It would be the Holy Spirit who would bring them into a deeper understanding of the life, ministry, and mission of Christ and the Gospel. As they yielded their lives to God’s will, they went out to give costly service and spread the Good News in their world.

Thank you Ron! For your good news today! Blessings on you today!
The yielded life is essential for our growth in Jesus! Good stuff!
“The cost of discipleship . . .
The call to servanthood. . .
The yielded life. . . “ Thanks Ron for your words today.
Thank you for the thoughts of the Lord’s discipleship. It is easy for me to understand the Lord’s teachings knowing the rest of the story in the disciples’ lives. My challenge is to apply the Lord’s teachings to my life.
Great truth for us today!! Thank you Ron!
