Day 23 | March 28
Day 23 | March 28 | March 10:1-16
By: Melodie Williams
“Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak, but He is strong!” Many of us grew up singing this beloved kid’s song. But I would venture to say this is a song and reminder for all of us.
As the Early Childhood director, I was naturally drawn toward the last half of the scripture today. Despite the attempts of some of the “grown-ups” in the area, Jesus invites the children to come to Him.
COME – a short 4 letter word that speaks so much. You are invited. I am invited. We are all invited. To come. And this invitation comes with almost no strings attached. The only request is to come in the simplicity of childlike faith. I do not know about you, but this not only fills my heart with joy, but with peace as well.
Receiving the kingdom of God like a little child makes me think of one of my 5-year-old friends at church. She lives every day how I imagine those children felt when Jesus opened His arms to welcome them. She exudes joy, with her smile and her very presence. I remember one Sunday she came in and exclaimed with utmost exuberance: “Ms. Melodie - It’s Jesus day!” She seems to love the little things as much as the big things. And it is contagious! It is just a part of her being. Jesus loves her and she chooses to live that love on a daily basis.
So may we, like my friend, open our hearts to the outstretched arms of our loving Jesus. May we not let the hindrances of a “grown-up” world keep us from experiencing the love that Jesus extends to every one of us every day. Come and receive!

“You are invited. I am invited. We are all invited. To come.“ - Thank you, Melodie, for reminding us of both the simplicity and magnitude of Jesus’ invitation to us, to ALL of us.
Thank you Melody. Little children are the best teachers!! Blessings on you today!
YES!!! I love this Melodie! We just simply complicate our relationship with Jesus! He never intended it to be that way! Great lesson through the eyes of children!
What a wonderful reminder! Thank you for your ministry to our youngest worshippers.
