A note from Pastor Kevin

“When our Church Board and Staff identified the three priorities for On Mission, we asked one simple question: How will this impact a first-time guest’s experience and our ability to reach more people in the future?

That question led us to focus on three areas: the North Lobby and Restrooms, the Youth Ministry Area, and the Garrett Restrooms and Corridor.

Three years ago, On Mission was little more than a vision God had placed in our hearts. I couldn’t have imagined all He would do. Today, I walk through a beautiful North Lobby, welcoming restrooms, bright corridors, and classrooms filled with people. I see a vibrant Youth Ministry Area where teenagers are growing in faith and building lasting relationships. And God has allowed us to accomplish all of this without taking on additional debt.

Now, it’s time to turn our attention to our third priority: the Garrett Restrooms and Corridor.”

Frequently Asked Questions

We believe that God is inviting all of us to go On Mission. You’ll learn that we are talking about this with our kids, teens, college-aged adults, and everyone else. There is power when we do this together!

On Mission is a 2-year initiative. However, some have asked if they could give over 3 years, and that is fine. If that is your plan, please note that on your commitment card.

We will start each priority when we have enough cash in hand to pay for the project.

The Church Board and Staff went through a detailed prioritization process and looked at all the parts of our building through the eyes of a first-time guest. These three areas were prioritized as making the biggest first-time guest impression.

Well, you can start right away if you’d like. But we are asking most people to begin their giving to On Mission in January 2024.

The Church Board, Facility Committee, and Administration Committee will reassess the projects and will only begin construction when enough cash is raised.

Yes, we view the On Mission commitments to be in addition to regular giving. The regular giving of College Church members and attenders allows us to cover our day to day costs.

On Mission Vision

PRIORITY #1 – COMPLETED DECEMBER 2024
NORTH LOBBY – INVESTING IN CONNECTION

Priority #1 stemmed from the hope that our guests would encounter a warm, welcoming environment where they are drawn into a relationship with Jesus the moment they walk in the door. Several years ago, we updated the Vanderpool Lobby to facilitate connection. Our goal was to multiply this experience in the North Lobby with additional natural light, permanent coffee bar, a second guest central, and an updated feel. We also gave the existing restrooms in the North Lobby a vastly improved layout and added two accessible restrooms that also accommodate families. We believe these essential updates to the North Lobby improved our guest experience and helped to facilitate connection.

PRIORITY #2 – COMPLETED FEBRUARY 2026
YOUTH MINISTRY SPACE – INVESTING IN THE NEXT GENERATION

Ministry to youth – middle school and high school – has been a foundational part of College Church’s ministry since the church began. We regularly see over 100 teenagers participating on Sunday mornings – worshiping together, reading the Bible, meeting with teens their age, and praying for one another. Last year, we completed an update to our elementary kids department. The result has been a facility that is exciting for Kids to come to and invite their friends. We have seen tremendous growth in just one year! We are excited for Youth to experience that same result when we invest in the Youth Ministry department. It is our hope that by adding a welcome center, updating space for connection, and improving the currentintentional worship space, the result will be College Church reaching more youth for generations to come.

PRIORITY #3
GARRETT/UPHAUS CORRIDOR – INVESTING IN FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The Garrett Chapel/Uphaus Hall corridor is one of the most interconnected and frequently used spaces on our campus. It serves our church family, community events, Salvation Army Outpost, Hispanic Ministry, and growing CREW ministry, yet much of the space dates back to the 1960s and no longer meets the needs of the people using it. What began as a plan to renovate the outdated, inaccessible restrooms has grown into an opportunity to reimagine the entire corridor. This project will include renovated and ADA-accessible restrooms, an additional accessible restroom, a widened corridor with higher ceilings and natural light, a Coffee Bar and Guest Central, a Cry Room and Mother’s Nursing Room, and the relocation of five offices. As we’ve learned more about the building and experienced the impact of the North Lobby renovation, we’ve seen how interconnected these improvements are—and how completing them together will allow us to steward our resources wisely while creating a welcoming, accessible space that can serve College Church and our community for years to come.

PRIORITY #4
NO ADDITIONAL DEBT!

We are committed to pay cash for each project in order to not accrue any additional debt. This means as we raise enough money for Priority #1 (the North Lobby), we will begin that project. As we raise enough money for Priority #2 (Youth Ministry space),we will begin that project. Finally, as we raise enough money for Priority #3 (Garret/Uphaus Restrooms), we will begin that project. We believe that paying cash for these projects is the most responsible way to steward our future resources.
